Ruth Dunne
Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner
BSc Psychology | Grad Dip Primary Education | Master of Social Work | Master of Applied Behaviour Analysis
Ruth brings warmth, curiosity, and compassion to every connection she makes. With a rich background spanning psychology, education, social work, and applied behaviour analysis, Ruth has supported individuals and families across a wide range of ages and needs.
Her experience includes working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with Therapy Focus and more recently as an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) counsellor with South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service. Across these roles, Ruth has supported clients from early childhood through to older adulthood, including autistic individuals, people with intellectual disability, mental health diagnoses, trauma histories, and substance dependence.
Ruth is skilled in developing Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans, conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments, and supporting families and teams to understand behaviour and build meaningful, practical strategies.
Ruth’s approach is collaborative, person-centred, and neuro-affirming. She values walking alongside people to understand their experiences and help them build the lives they want to live. Her clients and colleagues describe her as kind, non-judgemental, and a great listener—someone who genuinely cares and takes the time to understand what matters most.
“It is such an honour to be welcomed into a person’s world and be given the opportunity to understand their perspectives and needs. This is an honour I do not take lightly and will do my best to provide you with the best support I can.”
